This pot is granddaddy of my current glazing style. Before this I tried very hard to control the glazes and stains on the pots, but on this one I sprayed the glaze on till it ran, which allows for the grooves that have been carved into the pot to show up simply by the flow of the glaze. God has created a world full of a beautiful variety of colors. What if He had made his children color blind like many critters? What would a sunset be to you then?
Here are two more pots. They show very well that glazing is never predicable. The bottom pot of the two was intended to be a bright blue on the outside, which it decided instead that it wanted to be black. The advantage of this is that I am never sure what a piece will look like exactly, which can produce some of the most fantastic surprises.
A few more pots that I have thrown lately. The last pot is one that Hannah glazed that was originally intended for the wedding. All pots shown are now spoken for.
This is a pot that I thew for my brother and sister-in-law. It was a good project that did not go as planned, but turned out to be unique and fun. The pot is stoneware clay and was thrown in three pieces. It stands a bit over 20 inches and was glazed with a whole slew of glazes. Enjoy.
